Lazise, Lake Garda.

Municipal Campsite At Lazise Is A Great Place To Stay.

We have stayed at Lazise Municipal Campsite at Lake Garda in Italy before; last time we had to leave as they were closing it down for the winter at the end of October.  The staff are very friendly and helpful and it is in a great location, being at the end of the town, right on the lakeside with beautiful rose gardens outside. The perfume wafts into the well kept but small campsite every evening and a stroll along the promenade is bliss.

Trouble With The Fridge.

Lazise itself is a pretty, touristic town with a vibrant market every Tuesday, starting from outside the campsite gates.  So don’t arrive on a Tuesday morning as you cannot access the site! There is free WIfi in the square outside the police station with convenient benches to sit on whilst downloading your e-mails. For more privacy there is an internet booth on the main road which charges the usual rates.

The buses stop a short walk away and can take you to other towns along Lake Garda and also into Verona.  The river cruise boats stop close to the site for a pleasant day’s outing.

The only problem this time was that our fridge/freezer packed up and of course it was really hot outside, but fortunately there was a large chest freezer available for patrons and we were able to put our food into it.

Bernard changed the fuse for the fridge but it popped again.  The staff were able to tell us of a camper repair place not too far away and the next day we drove there to see if it could be repaired. The man was puzzled; he checked the gas electrics etc. and then he looked at the fuse box itself and removed it to investigate. The fridge fuse was burnt through underneath. After having tidied up the wiring and testing it, all was O.K. He had spent over half an hour messing about and charged us 25 Euros for his efforts.  Phew, we thought we would have to buy a new fridge freezer. We  stocked up on liquids for the grey and clear water tanks and some other accessories, so in the end we spent a fair amount.

We returned to Lazise and restocked our food from the chest freezer into our motorhome. Back to normal once again.

The sunset that night was superb and we went for a leisurely stroll  to offload our anxieties of the day.
